Vice President Margarita Popova supports the national initiative of schools, Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance "Amalipe" and other NGOs to overcome ethnic tensions and conflict prevention "Together we are better ... at school." The campaign is a spontaneous response to conflicts of Garmen and Orlandovtsi and aims to prevent their expansion on other places. It will be launched in mid-July with a dozen of schools, the new school year will join dozens of others.

This became clear at the National scientific and practical conference "Intercultural education as a means of reducing dropout of Roma children from school," which was organized by the Center "Amalipe" and the University of Veliko Turnovo "St. Cyril and Methodius" with the support of the Trust for Social Achievement. The conference began on 1 July in the University, and will continue the next day. The forum was attended by Rector of the University prof. Hristo Bondzholov, representatives of the Ministry of Education, director of the Center for Educational Integration of Children and students from ethnic minorities Laura Clarkson, the Governor of Veliko Tarnovo district prof. Pencho Penchev, teachers and principals from across the country .

"One of the problems of intercultural learning is that we have forgotten and neglected care how to communicate as equal and equal human beings, each with its own dignity", said in her welcoming speech Margarita Popova. She repeatedly stressed that ethnic peace is not a given fact. "The ethnic peace and understanding requires daily care, which is based on better education, culture and humanity. You, teachers, are people called to develop this in our children because we can not be united without knowing the culture and needs of the other" said Mrs. Margarita Popova. It is clear that the lack of social cohesion and social sensitivity is one of the biggest problems that our society has to face and to solve.

In his address Deyan Kolev stressed that Bulgarian schools with its very inception, gathered in a classroom and not divided, pupils of different social status. But today the trend of segregation - ethnic and social ones - is accelerating and it is a sign that our society is sick. You, teachers and all of us, together we can help to overcome this trend, calling Kolev.

He presented the idea of the campaign "Together we are better ... in school," formulated a day earlier in a conversation with directors of several schools involved in the program "Every Student can be a Winner" The campaign aims to bring together Bulgarians and Roma, to make them support the school through volunteer work, to give them the chance to share their memories and their dreams for the future of the school in which children from differentethnic groups study and learn together. To participate in the campaign will be invited famous alumni of the school, as well as popular national figures - journalists, political scientists, artists: Bulgarians and Roma. "Open the doors of schools and gather together Bulgarians and Roma, in the name of the school we can find a common language" called Kolev.

All the speakers - principals and teachers - supported the campaign and declared their readiness to join it. Its support expresed also the Vice President Popova.
